Workin’ 9 to 5? That’s no way to make a livin’

Subscribe to Aridni Author: Katie - Philosophy of the Wealthy

This weekend (like most weekends), a man asked why I don’t take a weekend off for a change. What do you and I say to these people? I can only think to smile, then walk away, calculating the financial losses one weekend off could cost me. Constant, hard work seems to be the path we need to take to grow future wealth and avoid working at chain stores on the weekend to pay the bills like he has to.

Any time you’re unsure of your personal path when confronted with the doubt of others, I’ve found a motivational key: Dolly Pardon. Remember that ancient song, ’9 to 5?’ Some people sing along thinking, ‘Yes, Dolly. This is my life. Exactly.’

But not me and not you!

She says:
Workin’ 9 to 5, what a way to make a livin’
Barely gettin’ by. It’s all takin’ and no givin’
They just use your mind and they never give you credit.
It’s enough to drive you crazy if you let it.

I say:
Workin’ 9 to 5 is just your time misgivin’
Makin’ others rich while you’re strugglin’ for a livin’
While others whine on the weekend couch where they all sit,
I’m seekin’ wealth and workin’ hard so I can QUIT.
