I’ve slipped through the financial cracks!

Seems everyone holds a complaint or two against E*Trade. And why wouldn’t they? Random fees, high brokerage fees, inactive account fees, more random fees…

Perhaps I am one of the only people chosing to stay with E*Trade. Somehow, I have slipped through the cracks of one of their most frustrating fees: inactive account charges. Normally, a person who isn’t actively trading every month gets a little fee of $3-$5 per inactive month… UNLESS that person is a minor.

I’m not a minor, though. I’m not about to tell E*Trade that I’m not a minor–haven’t been a minor for more than five years–and should be getting these inactivity fees myself.

Two glitches:
E*Trade uses my maiden name. (Big deal)
My dad remains the primary account holder; I’m the minor under him. This condition means that E*Trade won’t provide my services when I call them. My dad has to call… or I can do everything online. (Like I’d want to be on hold all day, anyway!)

My dad left E*Trade long ago; he got sick of those random fees. I, however, haven’t been charged a visible cent. Should my status by switched from minor to adult?

Well, then I’ll be leaving E*Trade as well.
